Unit 550 Board of Directors Election The Board is seeking a new Treasurer for the new year as David Harken is moving on after an outstanding run as the Unit Treasurer. If you have any interest, please contact Ken Llacera or any current Board member. Every year a portion of the Unit 550 Board of Directors is elected for a two-year term. Three members have come forward for the 2025-2026 BOD:
Five current board members have agreed to run for another two year term:
Two current board members continue on the board in the second year of their term:
If there are no other candidates, the slate of eight will be elected by acclamation, as specified in Section 7.5(a) of Unit 550 Bylaws, unless 5 members of Unit 550 request in writing (or email) a formal election. The deadline for accepting nominations for the official ballot is Monday, November 25th; write-in candidates are also accepted if there is an election by ballot. In addition to David Harken, the Board and the membership recognizes and applauds Carol Avenmarg and Ken Gamble outgoing board members. Over several years, their work and contributions to the SCBC have guided us throughout the recovery from the pandemic to a position that is the envy of many clubs and units. The SCBC would not be such a favorable place without them. We also thank Steve Smith for his contributions to the work of the board and helping grow the membership. Please consider joining the Board or a committee. You do not need to be an expert player or a long-time member of Unit 550. Your ideas and enthusiasm are all that is required. The Board deals with all aspects of running the Santa Cruz Bridge Center to create an overall bridge experience for our members that is entertaining and educational while maintaining a friendly, competitive environment. Contact any member of the Board to have your name included as a candidate for election to the 2025-2026 Board of Directors or to learn more. The election results will be announced during the Annual Meeting and Holiday Party on Saturday, December 7th. Your Member Newsletter is hot off Leslie Davidson's laptop (Leslie is the SCBC Marketing Director). You'll find lots of "newsworthy" articles here, including a profile of Susan Slinger.
